These days I'm a 25-year-old gay cancer survivor living in Athens, Georgia who gets paid to evict deadbeats all day. Before this point, though, I grew up in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina before moving here to Athens in the fall of 2000 to attend UGA. I graduated with a BA in English and minor in Art in 2005, although not before being diagnosed with the aforementioned cancer during my sophomore year, the treatment of and recovery from which took almost a year. I'm proud to say that I'm in full remission and great health now (although my optimism has taken a serious beating). After graduation I got a job as a leasing agent for an apartment community here in town, but have been the assistant manager for about a year now. It's my job to harass people about their rent and/or throw them out if they don't pay, which is occasionally heartbreaking but usually very rewarding. I also have a fun and much less stressful part-time job at a video game retailer, where I get to let my inner nerddom out of its cage to shine like the glorious beacon it has always wanted to be. (Oh, and I also do commissions for website design and development, so if you happen to have a need for such services feel free to inquire for info and references. And don't let the shameless nature of this plug put you off; I did put it in parentheses to make it seem a little more subtle.) I have a fantastic partner whom I love (and met on the Internet, actually) as well as a surly, formerly-stray black cat. In my spare time I read, follow the news, play video games and see movies on occasion, exercise, churn out mediocre fiction, draw silly comics and work on the house. And when the need hits, as it has in fits and spells since April of 2001, before almost all of these other things happened, I update this journal. |
